Dive into the future of aquatics in Golden and Electoral Area A.

Project on hold

Plans to develop the Golden and Electoral Area A Indoor Aquatic Centre will be paused following the news that the Columbia Shuswap Regional District’s (CSRD) $13.5 million federal funding application was unsuccessful. This information was provided to the CSRD by the Federal government on February 14, 2024. More information will follow.

Revisions to the vision

We’ve always been guided by the community’s vision and commitment to achieving year-round aquatics in Golden. So, when recent costings came in higher than expected, we turned to the Community Advisory Committee to brainstorm how best to proceed.

Together, we’ve developed a three-phase plan to deliver on our community vision. Subject to funding, we’re on track for a base facility to open in 2026, with additional features to follow.

Fundraising efforts underway

The future indoor aquatic centre will be funded through a capital loan, federal and provincial grants, sponsorships, and donations from people just like you. We’re actively fundraising for the new facility and taking donations from community members. Big or small, every dollar counts.

Why I support the future aquatic centre!

An indoor pool will provide a year-round opportunity for people to stay active. The winters are long and many people struggle to find ways of exercising when it is cold outside. A pool will provide an inclusive space for people young and old and of diverse abilities. Senior citizens, in praticular, will benefit from having a non-weight bearing activity. This will greatly improve the health and wellness of our community and visitors.

We anticipate this initiative will infuse our area with new jobs, new economic opportunities, and sustained growth for our residents and local businesses... I am in full support of the development of this vital amenity and encourage your support in funding this project.

Swimming is an excellent activity for not only youth and their families, but for everyone... We are pleased to endorse this campaign and ask you to help fund this vital amenity. Let's make this facility a reality for our community!
